Keeping Makybe Beautiful!
As part of the Keep Australia Beautiful initiative, a group of local Baldivis Girl Guides volunteered their time to clean up the oval at Makybe Rise. A number of the Baldivis Girl Guides group are current and past students of Makybe Rise (and Guide Leaders are Makybe Mums) so they especially enjoyed donning gloves and rubbish bags to help Keep Makybe Beautiful! The school oval is enjoyed by not only students but also locals living in the area so it was lovely to see the Girl Guides giving back to the broader Baldivis community.
“They are such great girls and I think that Girl Guides teaches them community values and the importance of giving back,” Principal Steph McDonald said. “We are fortunate to have mums within our community who are willing to step up and be trained as guide leaders.” The Girl Guides provide girls with leadership training and opportunities to learn who they are and the impact they can have in their community.
The girls collected ten large bags of rubbish from the oval and all of us at Makybe would like to take this opportunity to thank them for their time and efforts … Thanks girls!
